Date Night
Date night stars Steve Carrell and Tiny Fey as a boring married couple who steal someone’s dinner reservation and find themselves in the middle of crime, corruption and intrigue. Its a fun romp though nothing outstanding. There really aren’t a lot of laughout-loud jokes, but its pleasant enough to watch.
The story is coherant and fun to follow along with. And there are some parts which verge on ridiculous, such as a car chase where they get their bumper caught on the bumper of a taxi cab, but they ned up bringing out more laughs than groans. It does have some good running gags as well, such as Mark Wahlburg never wearing a shirt and how everyone thinks that stealing a reservation is so despicable.
Its pretty mediocre material, but its enjoyable simply because the two leads, Fey and Carrell, are so likable. Its not a comedy with a lot of memorable jokes and bit gags to be sure, but its pleasing to watch on a lazy evening.
7/10
I am not sure likability and a dearth of memorable material make a movie a 7 out of 10, unless you consider that grade as a C-. I would hesitate to give it that high a grade. Wahlberg was the best part of the film, to be sure.

A 7 is average for me. If its likable enough, it gets a seven.
