Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Aliens?? Seriously??
Yeah, I really didn’t know what to think about this movie when i got out of it, but it didn’t take me long to conclude that I didn’t like it. There were some parts where it felt like an Indiana Jones film, and others where it didn’t, but i can tell you that the over all storyline sure was not Indiana Jones, it really felt like something out of another movie.
I know Indy movies have a sense of silliness, but swinging like Tarzan with the monkeys?? The fridge?? And once i saw Roswell labeled on the container at the beginning, i said “Really? are they really going there??” Yup. They did.
I did like seeing Harrison Ford take up the old familiar character again and i did like that he did seem old and familiar. I liked the dialogue for the most part and Mutt has a dumb name to be sure (yes, Indy was named after the dog and now this guys name is mutt, we get it) but he was a decent new character.
But there were way too many things that bugged me. Was the shot of the Ark really necessary? We had already long figured out it was the same warehouse, it seemed patronizing more than anything else.
Anyway, I’m sure i have more to say, but I’m tired.
6/10
While the other Indian Jones movies have always been over the top I just found this one to be too much. “Aliens?? Seriously??” is EXACTLY how I responded.
Of course some of my friends pointed out that the Arc of the Covenant isn’t more plausible and I was grasping at straws and such. But I’ll never shake it. God damn aliens in Indiana Jones.
Seriously.

Plausibility didn’t enter into it for me. The reason that having aliens in the story bothered me is simply because it doesn’t fit the style of Indiana Jones. Ancient relics from religious or mythical past, fits. Alien creatures from another world, not so much. How plausible these events are is not really the concern, its whether or not they are plausible in the Indiana Jones Universe.
