Adventureland was a film that came and went this summer without many people noticing. And chances are it will simply fade out of remembrance quite quickly.
This was okay, but I found it really awkward at some moments. At first I wasn’t buying the romance between the two leads, but as the movie went on it found its stride and the chemistry actually worked quite well. But the other elements around it weren’t working quite so well. The Ryan Reynolds character didn’t work for me, neither did the Lisa P thing. And the two park owner’s seemed like they were in a different movie. It was slightly uneven like that throughout the whole film.
In the end I was happy with the romance and thought it felt quite authentic. But the movie as a whole just didn’t come together well enough.
