The Hangover

The Hangover has become the breakout hit of the summer, and with good reason.   This is one of the best comedies I have seen in quite some time.  I laughed loud and I laughed often. The great thing about the Hangover is that it has a lot of substance to it other than just the comedic elements.  The chemistry between the three characters as great and they were each hilarious in their own special way.  The mystery plot that they follow to unravel their crazy night is also very intriguing for us as an audience.  These are strong compontents which contribute to the film’s success.

Only a few things didn’t work and should have been fixed to make this really great. Mostly the problem came with the supporting characters. I felt the Mike Tyson cameo felt really forced. Also the cameo of the bad guy by Ken Jeong was just really bad. It seemed like the actor thought that this role was his time to shine, and completely overdid it. And what was with the wedding singer at the end? That was… off.

But those are minor quibbles in a movie which really worked well as a laugh-out-loud comedy about three friends coming together to figure out a problem after a crazy night. It accomplishes just what it sets out to do. Hilarious and fun.
8/10
